Determinantal Processes with Number Variance Saturation

چکیده
Abstract. Consider Dyson’s Hermitian Brownian motion model after a finite time S, where the process is started at N equidistant points on the real line. These N points after time S form a determinantal process and has a limit as N → ∞. This limting determinantal proceess has the interesting feature that it shows number variance saturation. The variance of the number of particles in an interval converges to a limiting value as the length of the interval goes to infinity. Number variance saturation is also seen for example in the zeros of the Riemann ζ-function, [20], [2]. The process can also be constructed using nonintersecting paths and we consider several variants of this construction. One construction leads to a model which shows a transition from a non-universal behaviour with number variance saturation to a universal sine-kernel behaviour as we go up the line.

On the correlation structure of some random point processes on the line
The correlation structure of some remarkable point processes on the onedimensional real line is investigated. More specifically, focus is on translation invariant determinantal, permanental and/or renewal point processes. In some cases, anomalous (non-Poissonian) fluctuations for the number of points in a large window can be observed. This may be read from the total correlation function of the ...
متن کاملRigidity of Determinantal Point Processes with the Airy, the Bessel and the Gamma Kernel
A point process is said to be rigid if for any bounded domain in the phase space, the number of particles in the domain is almost surely determined by the restriction of the configuration to the complement of our bounded domain. The main result of this paper is that determinantal point processes with the Airy, the Bessel and the Gamma kernels are rigid. The proof follows the scheme of Ghosh [6]...

For the plane, sphere, and hyperbolic plane we consider the canonical invariant determinantal point processes Z ρ with intensity ρdν, where ν is the corresponding invariant measure. We show that as ρ → ∞, after centering, these processes converge to invariant H 1 noise. More precisely, for all functions f ∈ H 1 (ν) ∩ L 1 (ν) the distribution of z∈Zρ f (z) − ρ π f dν converges to Gaussian with m...
متن کاملDeterminantal Processes and Independence
Abstract: We give a probabilistic introduction to determinantal and permanental point processes. Determinantal processes arise in physics (fermions, eigenvalues of random matrices) and in combinatorics (nonintersecting paths, random spanning trees). They have the striking property that the number of points in a region D is a sum of independent Bernoulli random variables, with parameters which a...
متن کاملLoop-free Markov chains as determinantal point processes
We show that any loop-free Markov chain on a discrete space can be viewed as a determinantal point process. As an application we prove central limit theorems for the number of particles in a window for renewal processes and Markov renewal processes with Bernoulli noise. Introduction Let X be a discrete space. A (simple) random point process P on X is a probability measure on the set 2 of all su...
